MATCH REPORT

The ten men of Silsden suffered their first defeat of the 24/25 campaign with a 3-1 away loss to Tadcaster Albion at the Young Guns Arena last night.

Despite dominating the opening twenty minutes, we found ourselves behind when Luca Bolino finished off a swift counter attack for the Brewer’s.

Elliott Andrew then doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Jake Cassidy had seen red for dissent after contesting the penalty decision.

Andrew quickly added his second goal after the break and despite Kayle Price finding the net late on, we were unable to fight our way back into the game.

The majority of the early chances fell our way, with Price, Luke Brooksbank and Toby Jeffrey going close in the opening 15 minutes; Jeffrey’s strike in particular was only denied by a superb headed goal line clearance.

Brooksbank looked to threaten on further occasions, hitting two similar efforts from outside the box but Sam Green got down quickly both times to tip the ball behind.

Tadcaster would take the lead on 24 minutes having cleared away our corner kick, the Brewer’s broke quickly with a long ball picked out Bolino who controlled well, rounded Callum Bradbury and slotted into the empty net.

We got back onto the front foot quickly however, Price sending a close range header just inches wide of the post following Brooksbank’s cross.

Things would get even worse for Sils however when Cassidy was adjudged to have tripped Kieran Greenway in the box, the ref pointed to the spot, with the central defender then receiving a straight red for dissent towards the official.

Andrew made no mistake in adding Taddy’s second from 12 yards.

Into the second half and the hosts wasted no time getting on the front foot against the 10 men, Bradbury forced into a wonderful double save to deny Alfie Dean.

The reprieve wouldn’t last long however, as Andrew found the net once again with a smart, toe-poked finish from inside the area on 54 minutes.

After that neither side created much, with the hosts seemingly more than happy to sit and hold on to their comfortable lead.

We would eventually grab a goal back on 81 minutes.

Cody Cromack’s floated corner delivery was met by Ross Daly who headed onto the bar, the rebound fell kindly to Price who made no mistake in rifling home into the corner.

Unfortunately that proved to be nothing more than a consolation, leaving us to make the trip home empty handed.

We’ll be back in action soon though and there’s the chance to put things right at the Regal Interiors Stadium this Friday with the visit of Bradford District rivals Thackley AFC. Kick off is at 7:45pm but get down from 6pm as we’ve got plenty going on alongside the game!
