Match Report

Silsden were pegged back by a late Ramsbottom goal in the FA Cup Preliminary Round at the Regal Interiors Stadium yesterday.

Kayle Price’s first half finish looked like it might have been enough to secure passage through to the next round but a 93’ minute Matthew Dudley header means that both sides face eachother in a replay Tuesday night.

There was an early escape for the Cobbydalers as a Rams shot that looked destined for net ricocheted back off a visiting player and out to safety just four minutes into the game.

Sils grew into the game after that and took the lead on 15 minutes as Jake Cassidy, playing upfront threaded the ball through to Price who rounded the onrushing keeper and slotted into the empty net.

A flurry of first half chances followed and the Cobbydalers should have perhaps been out of site, Harry Coates having a header hooked off the line whilst Price saw a deflected effort drop wide.

Cody Cromack and Price then both tried there luck from distance with both efforts well saved by the keeper before Isaac Robinson fired a fierce shot into the side netting.

The excitement of the first half was in stark contrast to the second, the first real moment of note coming on 70 minutes as Robinson saw a low strike held by the keeper.

Toby Jeffrey, Cassidy and Price all saw efforts fly over the top before the visitors managed to find a leveller late on.

Terry Cummings cross was met by Dudley who nodded home much to the delight of the travelling Rams support.

That of course means that Silsden travel to Manchester on Tuesday night as they look to progress to the 1st Qualifying Round for the second consecutive season.
