MATCH REPORT

On a celebratory evening down at the Regal Interiors Stadium, a bumper crowd watched on as we ended our home campaign in style with a 3-0 win over Barton Town.

Jake Maltby got the Silsden promotion party in full flow with the opener just 4 minutes into the game before Kayle Price’s freekick squirmed its way through the visitors keeper soon after.

Tom Greaves’ second half strike put the icing on the cake and rounded off what was a fantastic evening for all Sils fans in attendance.

With the NCEL Prem title already wrapped up the lads might have been forgiven for getting a little complacent early on as Barton’s Ali Aydemir rattled the crossbar but we wasted no time in opening the scoring at the other end.

Luke Brooksbank found himself with plenty of space to cut the ball back to the edge of the box where Maltby swept home a first time finish that left the Barton keeper stranded.

Things got even better soon after as Price struck a low freekick that found its way into the bottom corner, one for the Junior Supporters behind the goal to enjoy!

We looked to add to our tally throughout the first half, Greaves seeing a powerful effort well blocked by the Barton defence.

The first team were not the only side to taste silverware this season as halftime saw three of our Junior sides presented with trophies for winning their respective leagues.

A massive congratulations to our u12 Girls Sharks, u12 Dragons and u13 Dragons for their success this season.

In his final game at the Regal Interiors Stadium, Greaves marked the occasion with a goal!

Brooky sending a long ball through to Maltby who squared to Tom to rifle home from close range.

Football isn’t just about the attackers however and keeper Callum Bradbury pulled off potentially the save of the season moments later, somehow tipping over when it looked certain for the visitors to grab a goal back.

After coming of the bench, Robbie Fox thought he’d made an instant impact poking home inside the area only for the linesman to judge him offside.

Price was inches away from adding to the scoreline with a 30 yard strike that smashed the crossbar before bouncing back out to safety.

A brilliant result in our final home game of the season rounded off with a presentation of the trophy at the end.

Thank you to everyone who attended the game and for all your support this season. We look forward to seeing you all next year for our first ever campaign at Step 4.

As always, UP THE SILS!
