Chairman’s Update

Hello to all at Silsden AFC,

For those who don’t know, I recently took the reigns as club chairman, something I’m immensely proud to push forward with. I’d like to give thanks to the fantastic work of John Lohan who has committed a huge amount of time to the role in recent years.

The club wouldn’t function without our hard working committee who work tirelessly to improve the facilities we offer, a special mention to the regular guys who are at the club daily to keep the wheels in motion.

It’s been a hectic start to the year, a fantastic pre season, some great results and a record breaking FA Cup run continues. For those who don’t know, our FA Vase run last year has meant an exemption to the later rounds, so more to come in November!

I’ll try keep this brief but I’ve some exciting news on the football front, as despite the demise of our WYL team; we will be working closely with Silsden Whitestar to integrate them within our setup moving forward.

This pathway is important to me, we have what is arguably the best junior setup locally and it’s going to be a big part of my role, engaging with the junior setup, coaches and managers and feeding this through to the first team.

Our first “family day” went tremendously well, and we will hopefully have more events in the future which bring together local people, families, groundhoppers and junior teams to offer a fantastic match day experience and spread the word about Silsden AFC.

Finally my thanks go to Cav, Paul, Harry, Indy and the coaching team for all their constant hard work and commitment, bringing a high standard of football to Silsden and constantly striving to improve.

That’s it from me, I will always be looking for good, bad and constructive feedback on the club, with a view to improving as much as possible going forward!

Cheers,
Will Twigg
