SPONSOR IN THE SPOTLIGHT I FMR

The first in our series of Sponsor In The Spotlight is a feature on new partners FMR – Frizinghall Models & Railways.

Silsden AFC and FMR joined forces in the summer of 2018 – a family owned local business and a community oriented local football club. FMR feature prominently at the club as there are two pitch side boards on show for all home games. Attendances have increased over the last 18 months making the boards a brilliant tool to gain exposure for businesses such as FMR. The FMR logo can also be seen regularly on our new club website, this also features a ‘click through’ to the FMR website – in just over two months the FMR logo has been seen 40,000 times on our website and had a series of ‘click throughs’. As a club we are proud to partner with and support such a fantastic and humble family owned business.

Frizinghall Models & Railways

If you are looking for Model Railways, Plastic Kits, Scalextric, Games Workshop, or general hobby tools, paints and materials, then visit our well stocked shop in Baildon. Our staff have excellent hands on modelling experience and can help both the novice and the experienced modeller alike.

Our shop is situated on the new industrial park on Otley Road, close to Hoyle Court and the ‘Halfway House’. We share the same building as John Ayrey Die-Casts on Sapper Jordan Rossi Park. We are easy to find, and have ample on-site parking.

The business dates back to January 1950, when John Ayrey and his father bought an existing model shop in Frizinghall, Bradford. John eventually had a total of four retail shops in the north of England plus a thriving international wholesale business. However, when John’s father died in 1976, the Frizinghall shop was sold to a customer, Arthur ‘Tug’ Wilson, a retired police sergeant. Arthur and later his son Stephen and family ran the shop until 2006 when a move was made to an industrial unit in Hillam Road, Bradford.

Ten years on and by early 2016 Stephen and his family decided it was time to retire from the retail trade, and the business was offered for sale as a going concern – initially without success!

The sale of the FMR business to the owners of John Ayrey Die-Casts was agreed towards the end of 2016 but was not completed until April 2017 after the necessary building alterations had been carried out at the new joint premises in Baildon.

The shop is located on the first floor of the John Ayrey Die-Casts building, served by both stairs and a lift. It is open to the public five days a week Monday to Saturday (Closed Wednesday) 09.30 to 17.30. We are only a few minutes walk from Baildon Railway Station, and buses pass on Otley Road behind us.

In the shop you can browse a huge range of Model Railway items, Plastic kits, Tools, Paint, etc. from all the main manufacturers and many not so well known. Help and advice is always available from the staff and a wide range of pre-owned items are always in stock.
